Enjoy Newcastle Dating

Whether you are new to the dating game, or have recently become free and single, the choice of venue for your first date with that elusive Mr or Miss Right is an important decision. If you are lucky enough to live there then you may find you are spoilt for choice when it comes to where to date in Newcastle. As to be expected from a major cosmopolitan city, forming part of the Tyneside conurbation, Newcastle boasts a wonderfully diverse number of restaurants, eateries and bars; many enjoying fabulous settings close to its historical landmarks and buildings.

The mutual choice of where to meet is an important decision for the romantic couple. Most of Newcastle-upon-Tyne’s impressive historical buildings can be found within its central Grainger Town region. Here there are over 240 listed buildings, to include the Grainger Market and Theatre. Other good meeting places include the Grey’s Monument or one of the city’s three cathedrals - St Nicholas, St Mary’s and Coptic.

Of course, it is important to feel relaxed and be able to talk freely on your first date, as well as with being able to enjoy a good meal accompanied by a drink or three. This is why the setting for this romantic interlude is of vital importance. This is where the ‘Geordies’ are extremely fortunate; as Newcastle-upon-Tyne boasts myriad good restaurants and eateries, with menus to suit all tastes and budgets.

Those couples who would prefer a more traditional English menu might wish to head to Seasons Restaurant, The Stand Bistro, David Kennedy’s Food Social or Pan Haggerty – to name just a few. Italian fans may prefer a pasta dish or pizza at Paradiso, Peppy’s or Pan’s Café Bar; whilst those who prefer spicier Asian cuisine can book a table at Soloman’s Dhaba, Café Bangla, Sachin’s or the city’s top rated Thai restaurant: Old Siam.

Meet at Local Venues

After enjoying a romantic meal, the couple may wish to continue their date by enjoying a stroll through one of the city’s numerous parks and open spaces. Leazes Park and Town Moor are the most centrally located. The latter covers an area larger than that of Hyde Park and Hampstead Heath combined, making it the ideal setting for the loved-up couple to enjoy some time alone.

Alternatively, walking hand-in-hand alongside the ever present River Tyne can be just as enjoyable; or perhaps a spot of retail therapy in the city centre or one of its numerous shopping malls. These include the recently redeveloped Eldon Square Shopping Centre, Monument Mall and just a hop-skip-and-jump over the Tyne in neighbouring Gateshead is the Metro Centre, Europe’s largest indoor shopping centre.

So, from sampling a well-prepared meal with a good bottle of wine in a romantic setting, before admiring Newcastle-upon-Tyne’s stunning Georgian architecture and enjoying a romantic stroll through the park, there is always plenty to see and do for any first date spent in the city. Rounding the date off by throwing some moves in one of the city’s numerous exciting nightclubs and bars can be the perfect end to a memorable date spent in this lively city.
